A district-level mini-marathon competition, emphasizing drug awareness in commemoration of Republic Day and National Youth Day, was held on Sunday, January 4, 2026, at Vellamodi Udaya Engineering College, organized by the Vivekananda Sports Development Service of the Mandaikadu Bhagavathi Amman Seva Trust.
This marathon, which had no entry fee, was conducted in four categories: Senior Male, Junior Male, Senior Female, and Junior Female. Prizes were awarded to 10 individuals in each category. The first three places received cash prizes of ₹7500, ₹5000, ₹3000 and ₹2500 respectively, along with trophies. The remaining seven individuals received ₹500 each. Prizes worth over one lakh rupees were distributed. T-shirts and breakfast were provided to all participants. Approximately 500 competitors participated in this mini-marathon. Former DSP Mr. Kannan, Retired Regional Sports Development Authority Senior Director Mr. Sivakumar, Kumari Hindu Sena President Mr. Nagendran, and Maathru Dhaya President Mrs.Shyamala Visweswaran inaugurated the event. Pujaneeya.Swami Chaitanyananda Ji Maharaj, Pujaneeya Shakti Shri Jaishankar Ji, Arumuganeri Police Inspector Mr. Dileepan, former high jump champion Dr. Arumugam Pillai, and the Vellichanthai Police Sub-Inspector also participated and graced the event. A spectacular yoga performance by the students of Palappallam Kannan Yoga Gurukulam was also presented. The volunteers of Vivekananda Sports Development Service and Kumari Hindu Sena made excellent arrangements for the total event.
